African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN)

AYGN is a non-profit organization bringing together national networks (YGNs) for young professionals in nuclear field and other related disciplines. The AYGN’s prime mission is to address the socio-economic issues of the continent through promoting peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology by educating the general public and facilitating knowledge transfer from the current generation of leading nuclear industry experts to the young generations. This is effectively done by offering a platform to share, exchange ideas and network on issues related to nuclear science and technology in Africa and globally. The network currently has strong national networks in South Africa, Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria

  • To establish strategic alliance and liaison with other Youth or Young Associate networks and Societies within the African Continent for the development and betterment of the continent.
  • To establish recognition of this AYGN Network within the ambient of African Union Commission, African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE), AFRA NEST, IAEA and ensure affiliation to International Young Nuclear Congress (IYNC) and other organization promoting nuclear energy developments in Africa
  • To mobilize young people across the African within the nuclear science and technology fields through establishments of national YGNs in the IAEA member states by 2020.
  • To cultivate and perpetuate interest in nuclear science and technology through education, training and research aimed at promoting peaceful use of nuclear energy in Africa.
  • To establish international collaborations and partnerships in view of exchange programs that empowers the African youth with relevant knowledge and skills needed in the nuclear industry
